Hitachi

Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd. has attracted worldwide attention by developing a variety of leading products in the field of bio-informatics. It was the first to introduce DNA analysis products to the global marketplace in the 1980s. One of its products, "FMBIO" Fluorescence DNA Analysis System, has been used by the FBI and 27 US state police departments. The system identifies nucleic acids and proteins using fluorescence and analyzes them using electrophoresis separated results, enabling faster, less expensive DNA profiling.

Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd. is the only provider in the world that supports total solution bio-informatics products, from DNA production to reading/scanning and analysis. These products include "SPBIO" workstations for producing DNA chips for fast DNA screening; "CRBIO" micro array scanners; and "CHPSpace" micro array information processing systems. In Japan, the company first produced DNA chips such as the "RNA chip" and "Human WBC chip" for commercial markets, helping to accelerate the study of genetics.
