Rapidly advancing open network environments such as the Internet underscore the need for online security to prevent electronic impersonation, interpolation of transactions, and wiretapping. Hitachi Software joined the WIDE project before Japan even had Internet connectivity and has built up its security expertise through trial and error. The "Hibun Series" security software was developed based on this advanced security technology. This software provides security for networks and mobile PCs by automatically encrypting confidential information. For example, access to specified folders can be transparently encrypted/decrypted, and only encrypted files can be saved to disk without the user's awareness. Confidential files can be transferred to users who do not use Hibun, and documents attached to e-mail can be made secure.
